Dr. Kathleen Ellison is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in adult and pediatric dermatology, offering expert care as an online dermatologist in Virginia. A member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, Dr. Ellison has presented at national and regional dermatology conferences and published numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals.
Dr. Ellison completed her undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her medical degree from Quillen College of Medicine in Tennessee and completed her dermatology residency at Georgetown University, where she served as Chief Resident for global health. During her residency, she trained at esteemed institutions such as Children’s National Medical Center, the National Institutes of Health, and Washington Hospital Center, and even provided dermatologic care in Botswana through the American Academy of Dermatology’s global health program.
Dr. Ellison has extensive experience diagnosing and treating a wide variety of skin conditions, including acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and skin cancer. She is passionate about building meaningful relationships with her patients and helping them feel confident in their skin.
Outside of dermatology, Dr. Ellison enjoys traveling, having visited 34 countries and five continents. She loves taking cooking classes during her travels and recreating international recipes at home. When not traveling, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family and dog, and exploring new restaurants.
