Certified physician assistant Toby Cason practices at U.S. Dermatology Partners Jacksonville and U.S. Dermatology Partners Athens.
Cason earned a bachelor of science from Texas A&M University of Commerce and a master of science from the University of Texas at Tyler. He went on to earn a master of physician assistant studies from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and a master of physician assistant studies with a specialty in orthopedic surgery from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He recently earned a doctor of medical science degree from the University of Lynchburg in Lynchburg, VA.
Cason has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including rheumatology, orthopedics and urgent care. “I initially developed an interest in dermatologic conditions while working in rheumatology, given the many overlapping diseases and treatments,” Cason says. “My interest grew as I diagnosed and treated a variety of dermatologic conditions while deployed with the U.S. Army in 2016 and 2017.”
He is particularly interested in treating autoimmune diseases, psoriasis, lupus, and skin cancers. “I enjoy the ability to see a wide variety of patients of all ages with varied skin ailments while building relationships with them and providing continuity of care,” Cason says. “You can truly change lives, whether it is changing a patient’s appearance, controlling debilitating diseases, or even saving a life with a skin cancer diagnosis.”
Cason’s wife, Karlie, is also a physician assistant with U.S. Dermatology Partners. They enjoy time with their daughter, Emmie, and their two dogs.
